Don’t Crop Me
Privacy Policy
Don’t Crop Me for iPhone and the dontcropme.app website. Last updated: October 30, 2026.
In short. The app collects no data: no account, no ads, no analytics, no server. Everything happens on your iPhone, and the app never sends a photo anywhere. The only data I receive is what you choose to send me when you write to me.
Who is responsible
The data controller is the publisher of the app and this website: YOANN CROIZER, a French limited liability company (SARL), 254 rue Vendôme, 69003 Lyon, France, publishing as YopYan Studio. On this page, “I” refers to this publisher, represented by its managing director, Yoann Croizer. For any question about your data: contact@yoanncroizer.fr. Full contact details are in the legal notice.
The camera
The app uses the camera to take the photos you shoot. Images are neither stored outside those photos nor sent anywhere. The app has no access to the microphone or to your location, and adds no location to photos.
Photo analysis
To choose the framing, the app analyzes each shot on your iPhone, offline, with Apple’s built-in iOS tools: it finds people, their posture, faces and the horizon. It detects faces so as not to cut them off, but recognizes no one: no identification, no biometric data. The details of this analysis are not kept; only the chosen framing and a few technical markers (such as the number of people seen) stay with the shot, on your iPhone.
Your photos
- Photos are saved to the Photos app, with add-only access. The rescued photo lands there with the original underneath.
- To change the version of a photo already saved, or to share it in full resolution, the app reads that photo back from Photos. iOS then asks for access; “Limit Access” is enough, and the app only sees its own photos.
- The app also keeps, in its own storage on your iPhone, a reduced copy of its 60 latest shots to show them to you (older ones are deleted as you go), and the full capture until it is saved to Photos. All of it goes away if you delete the app.
- When you share a photo, you choose the app or person to send it to, with the iOS share sheet.
- Once in Photos, your photos follow your Photos settings, like all the others: if iCloud Photos is on, Apple syncs them, not the app.
- Your settings, such as “Rescue automatically”, also stay on your iPhone.
Permissions
The app asks for access to the camera, to take photos, and to Photos, to save them and read them back when needed. You can revoke these permissions at any time in the iPhone’s Settings, under Privacy & Security. Without them, the app can no longer take or save photos; nothing else changes.
Support purchases
“Buy me a coffee” purchases go through the App Store, and Apple collects the payment. I receive neither your name, nor your email address, nor your payment information: only the overall sales reports Apple provides to every developer. Apple applies its own privacy policy.
Apple diagnostics
If you agreed to share data with app developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may send me anonymous crash reports and usage statistics, which help me fix bugs. The app adds nothing to them, and you can turn this sharing off in the same place.
Emails to support
If you write to me, I receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. I use them only to answer you and follow up on your request, based on my legitimate interest in doing so. My mailbox is Proton Mail (Proton AG, Switzerland): they are stored there encrypted, on servers in Switzerland, Germany or Norway, countries covered by the GDPR or recognized by the European Union as providing adequate protection. They are shared with no one else and are never used for advertising. I keep them for at most three years after our last exchange, then delete them.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party resources (fonts, scripts or videos from other sites), and asks you for nothing. It is hosted by Netlify, which processes on my behalf the technical data of each visit (IP address, browser, requested page, date and time) in its server logs, to run the website and keep it secure: that is my legitimate interest. Netlify is based in the United States; this transfer is covered by the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which Netlify has joined, and by its data processing agreement. Netlify keeps these logs for as long as needed for these purposes, under its privacy statement.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data, including from children.
Your rights
Data protection law (the GDPR in the European Union) gives you rights over your data: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Since the app collects nothing, in practice they only concern your emails and the website logs. To exercise them, write to contact@yoanncroizer.fr; I will answer within a month. To erase what the app keeps on your iPhone, simply delete it. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page, with its date. If the app were ever to collect data, this page would say so first, and the app would ask for your consent.
